This is to let you know what we do here at Primary Purpose in Albion, California.

We have a 90 day minimum commitment and sometimes recommend a 6 month commitment depending on the individual case factors. During the first 30 days we have a "blackout" period where no outside contact in permitted (except mail).  During the first 90 days there is a "no pass" policy. We also have an after care residential type operation  available to graduates with the emphasis on recovery and employment. You must be over 18 and, for now, men only. Dual diagnosis is allowed for equal opportunity purposes but clients peers ultimately determine whether or not one gets “voted-in”.

Everything we do is done at a group level. We attend off-property AA/NA meetings three nights of the week. We also have a 7:00 am attitude adjustment meeting every morning except Sunday.

Each day we have a 9:15 am "Check In" where we talk about our feelings. Sometimes these groups may last up to three hours. A primary focus in these meetings is on developing living skills and learning to face life on life's terms.

Most of us have used mind-altering substances and chemicals because we were unwilling or unable to face reality. By sharing our experience, strength and hope, and working the 12-step program we learn to overcome our addictions.

Our basic entrance fee is $500 plus the first month's rent which is $340 + $110 for food. If you are unable to pay it is possible to pay the $500 entrance fee and apply for General Assistance and Food Stamps. If you are not a resident of Mendocino County and wish to pay through General Assistance we require the $500 entrance + $170 until you are able to receive your GA and Food Stamp benefits. If you have a felony drug conviction after 10/22/96 you will not be eligible for Food Stamp benefits. If you have a felony conviction for drugs after 1/1/98 you are not eligible for GA. Rental payment arrangements can be flexible on an individual basis with the approval of the Director.

This letter explains some of our main objectives. We are not state licensed so if you are court ordered check with the presiding judge to see if they will accept our program. We are endorsed and utilized by the Mendocino County Superior Courts, State Parole, numerous county Probation and Sheriff's Offices/ departments throughout the state.

If you have any questions or are interested in visiting us or scheduling an interview for entry into the program, please feel free to call or write.
